Where to start??? I had such high hopes for this one. I really really did. I wanted to love this and was so excited to see where this would go. The first two books set us up for some great reading. There were so many things going on. Murder trials, stalkers, Nikki and her own demons etc. It was all there, then it wasn't......
This book is erotica, yes I get that. However, there was so much happening around Damien and Nikki that I actually found myself almost bored or even frustrated with the sex(and not frustrated in a good way). I wasn't bored with the scenes themselves, they were HOT, like really HOT. They just kept happening!!! A key component or question to where the story may lead, would arise and I kept waiting for the beginnings of a resolution. They were going at it like convicts escaped from prison, for me to the point of excess. I wouldn't have minded the excessive sex scenes if there would have been deeper insight into the story. I felt like I was getting bits and pieces of buildup but when the resolution comes, its comes much too quickly and easily, to the point of me saying "WTF??" I felt like details were skimmed over or skipped completely. Anticlimactic is the word I will use. It was just all of a sudden over. There is no epilogue. Its just over, and I was left still waiting more detail into what had happened.
If you look at my review for the previous book, you will see the love I have for these characters. I was so thrilled to get and ARC and more thrilled when I received the ARC for this one. J. Kenner I am a fan. I love your writing style. I love your characters voices. I love your ability to write a really HOT scene. I'm sorry, I just didn't love this book. I will read the next book you publish. I recommend this series as a quick read with some suspense and off the charts steaminess, I just think it could have been so much more.....
